You can set moderator emails, who then have to get a new "moderator"
password from mailman, and can then login somewhere and do it.

Part of me is wondering how the spam is getting here. Are they just
crawling to the mailman page and seeing it? It's linked around, so I'm
guessing that might be it. That's really the only explanation I can
think of.

Almost no results for the explicit email address in google. Moderation
is probably the right route, but I can't imagine it's going to at all
be fun or easy to do on a large scale.
Perhaps psa's "require registration to post" is a good move. It
doesn't cause us any extra work. Thoughts?
