Google already works for this.

But requires registration, does it not? One couldn't subscribe to the  
Google Group without registering their email address as a Google  
Account. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Too easy, sometimes. I say this having deleted the occasional spam  
thread from the Growl lists (although this hasn't happened in awhile).
