Actually, so long as a CBPurpleAccount subclass is used, the  
information is automatically gleaned from libpurple. The prpl provides  
these things, but Adium has to be able to find out about them.

Agreed!  If there were Adium for Windows and for Mac, having just one  
might be okay... But you need to be able to test out your target UI.
