What about updating trac is a pita? I maintained an instance at work
for a few years, and the *only* problems I ever saw were with custom
plugins and not with trac itself. (Even those problems were usually a
simple recompile.) If the problem is with customizations, then it
seems like switching to any other system would remove the problem in
the same way it would be removed by getting rid of all of the trac
customizations. Of course, it's possible Adium coding could increase
if devs don't have the option to spend time tweaking the ticket
system. If we really are heavily invested in customizations, perhaps
it would be helpful to consider each customization, it's value, and
whether it's available on alternative systems.
I'm not really arguing for or against trac, but I will say that I've
been an unhappy user pretty much every time I've had to interact with
Google Code or (Google Groups).
