Still 1.4 doesn't work with SSL behind a proxy

I just came home today and saw that my existing 1.4 build couldn't  
connect to yahoo even when there was no proxy set and then I just  
build a new version off the head and that appears to be able to  
connect to yahoo. I'm just wondering if the difference would account  
for perhaps this 1.4 build working with yahoo even when using the  
proxy. Also at work today folks who were using Pidgn had problems  
connecting to yahoo today.
