Everyone would have expected Colloquy for iPhone to be free, also. It
isn't. Just because the Mac version is free doesn't mean the iPhone
version will be or should be.

(I've already stated that I want it to be free and why.)

It is. You cannot fit all the features of the Mac version into the
iPhone version, even after necessarily cutting all the features that
are outright impossible.

There's also the issue of effort. The current Mac version of Adium is
over four and a half years' work. The iPhone version will be about an
80% rewrite. So, figure between three and four years' work if you
reimplement everything that's currently in the Mac version.

If you want Adium for iPhone sometime soon, you're going to have to
choose which features make the cut for 1.0. I've given my suggestions,
and it's a short list.

Considering it's a volunteer project, I don't see how you could do it
any other way. What could the other developers do, *order* me to work
on the iPhone version?
