Here's a thought I'm not sure everyone thought of (I know I didn't) -  
A mobile version of Adium is a chance to fix what you don't like about  
Adium's current design. When I was more involved in the project I  
always heard someone complaining about some design decision(s), and  
fixing it almost always meant rewriting large portions of the app, so  
nobody dared to do it. A mobile version is a chance to start clean  
with the knowledge gained over the years, and then port it back to the  
desktop version. Having the same core also means less code to  
maintain, so only the UI part will be different.
