This brings to mind the struggles we had in "Fire" getting the pidgin
community to accept the improvements we made to the AIM-Oscar
protocol. The difficulty was so large that we ended up doing our own
protocol work (which is much funner than UI stuff any day...)
For my 2 cents, I think we should support Felipe in his efforts and
reward his enthusiasm and hard work, rather than assuming that
libPurple will always be the best implementation. Certainly the proof
is in the final product (features, reliability, & maintainability) but
I would not want to discourage his efforts which are starting to show
results.
I haven't done enough testing with MSNP15 to know if it is truly more
reliable, so I don't have an informed decision on which library is the
better one currently. (I just know that MSN on the latest version of
Pidgin is "iffy" on contact list display as well as messages with
invisible users.)
I guess what I am trying to say to Felipe is "Good work - don't give
up! Thanks for all you are doing"
