Agreed on all points, and +1 to having a light background. I don't
think we'd be willing to move to something that: 1) forced width, 2)
forced light text.

I'm also a little concerned how much vertical space is taken up by the
header. A significant amount of my monitor is in width, not height.
This quadruples the height of the website's header.

The tabs don't quite look like tabs, or don't feel like they're menu
items. They also would need a method for displaying a secondary row of
links (see: xtras site, trac).
