Apple would be permanently blocking all open source applications from
the iPhone if the SDK remained permanently under NDA. I seriously
doubt that will be the case.
A project making using of the SDK could not be publicly released until
the NDA is lifted, true, but this would not have to prevent
development; a private repository could be used, and anyone with
access to the SDK could safely be given access to it, as well.
