This discussion is all well and good, but we're already pushing betas  
of 1.3 with pecan in it, and I'd rather not delay 1.3-final just so we  
can switch prpls again. If people want to experiment without delaying  
the release, that's fine (invited?) by me, but there are great  
features in 1.3 and delaying it for one protocol isn't a service to  
the majority of our users.
