[Adium-devl] MSNP15 in Libpurple

You have a limited view in how 'better' is defined. A strict feature-
by-feature comparison is not truly enough to decide which one is best
for Adium - though features may be all many Adium users might be
comparing here, it's also a matter of support.
With the MSNP15 implementation in Libpurple, are we going to be able
to have as quick a response time from the Libpurple developers
(particularly QuLogic right now I assume) when a bug arises, or is it
going to sit and wait for 3+ months like many of the patches that were
on Pidgin's trac targeted for P14/15? In this regard, we have had much
better support from Filipe than we have from the libpurple devs.
Nonetheless, this may simple have been because the work was being
completed on the core implementation of the protocol. Now that those
portions are done, does this mean that QuLogic and KHC (and others)
will be able to investigate problems and be prepared to solve bugs in
a much faster time-frame? (ie: at least close to Filipe's response
time). If so, then perhaps switching to P15 is the way to go. If this
is not able to happen, then I believe we should stay with MSN-Pecan.
For the record, MSN is my primary protocol as it is for many, if not
all Canadians. Therefore I feel it important to clarify that I am not
simply treating this as simply another protocol (or as something to
disregard) like many of the AIM-centric developers on Adium, but
instead as one that I use daily for business and personal applications.
Those of you thinking, we should simply choose the one with the best
features, think about what happens if you encounter a big problem,
like not being able to connect - would you want the problem to
continue for months at a time, or would you prefer to have it solved
in a matter of weeks or less? This is basically what I'm questioning
here - as we don't know for sure whether P15 or MSN-Pecan will be best
in this manner.
