You personally might allow it, but the FSF doesn't agree with you:

Plugins for Adium have to be released with a GPL-compatible license.  
If you want to remove this constraint, you have use a modified version  
of the GPL, like Linux and gcc. However, this would be a license  
change of the whole codebase.
