Hi Peter,

libpurple has been supporting entity capabilities for a while now,  
although only the last non-hash-version right now. However, in my book  
that's something completely different than jabber:iq:version. It's the  
same as the CTCP VERSION request in IRC, it's a nice information to  
display, but doesn't have any consequences for the client.
