As someone who still likes to watch, but doesn't have much time to  
actively develop anymore, I'd like to throw my $0.02 in here

That, if anything, seems to be an argument against having @adiumx.com  
addresses.  If the goal is to have a global identifier, who's to say  
that "Evan Schoenberg <evan at adiumx.com>" and "Evan Schoenberg <evan at pidgin.im 
 >"  are the same person?  Whereas if I keep "Stephen Holt <stephen.holt at gmail.com 
 >"  I can contribute to many projects under the same moniker at my  
leisure, everyone knows who I am, and my contributions are fully  
transparent.  Organization is good and all, but lets not fool  
ourselves; we're closer to a bazaar than a cathedral.

IMHO, this is a solution in search of a problem.
