Adium is open-source software. This means that anybody can read the  
code that makes Adium, and determine for themselves whether it reveals  
users' secrets. If we were ever to make Adium do such a thing, someone  
would catch it.

Adium supports notification of the arrival of new email on some  
services (including Google Talk and MSN/Windows Live), but does not  
provide features to read email in the client nor to send email.

Among the services that Adium supports is MySpace IM; the next version  
of Adium will add support for Facebook Chat as well.

In the current version of Adium, you can use Jabber, Google Talk, and  
related services to post updates on Twitter. The next version of  
Adium, 1.3, will improve this support with new features to better  
accomodate the 140-character limit on Twitter.
