Renee,

The Facebook team has stated that a Jabber based API will be forth  
coming and is on their roadmap. Whether that means the terms of  
service will permit third party clients remains to be seen. At the  
moment we can't do anything, and we don't exactly have the free cycles  
to spin on something new right now.

I'm sure we will look at it again once official support is available.
