Do you have the 10.4 universal SDK installed?  It's an option you need  
to select from the XCode installer. Look in /Developer/SDKs to see if  
it's there.

See the README file in Utilities/dep-build/scripts which describes the  
steps you need to take to build a custom version of  
Libpurple.framework and use it within your Adium build.
