[Adium-devl] On 1.3 and User Notification

Hey guys,
One of the major problems in Adium is the dialog errors that we have.
There's no integrated area that we provide notification for the user. In
Pidgin and a few other clients, the space above the contact list can be used
to provide information.
I think we should provide a central notification area like this for almost
all things that can generate information. I don't like the idea of a dialog
popping up in my face. We can use the events system to provide
audible/visual notifications of such errors. Here's a few examples of what I
mean:
"X contacts awaiting approval" whose on-click action would open a (new)
authorizations window. One window for all authorization requests.
"X accounts are offline" whose on-click would open the accounts window.
"Z new mail messages" -- one for each account, I think, would be
cleanest/easiest -- which would launch the email for it.
This might require integrating some of the contact list styles, or getting
rid of random ones (like contact to fit).
Any thoughts on such a system?
