What do we do that *isn't* compatible with iChat? I guarantee you if
Gaim or Adium were to start doing things incompatible with iChat on a
protocol level, there absolutely would be complaints. But for XMPP, we
have an open, well documented series of protocol specs and for AIM,
we're forced to mimic the official AOL client as closely as possible.
Even then, though, we do some stuff special cased for iChat: we
convert the funky formatting it uses for its little chat bubbles to
the normal HTML we use for messages.

Just as it would be silly to have AIM support that doesn't talk to
AIM, or XMPP support that doesn't talk to XMPP, it would be silly to
have Bonjour support that doesn't talk to iChat.
