[Adium-devl] Global proxy settings?

Rather than defining some sort of 'global' proxy (where would it go?
Is it really a commonly needed thing given that for most users the
Locations system should be sufficient), how about this as an
alternative solution:
Account groups, similar in interface within the Accounts prefs to how
the Saved Status groups work.
Groups could be enabled/disabled as a unit. Status menu could
reflect the groups when multiple groups are enabled, allowing easy
setting of the group at once to a single status. Options for a group
would be the usual personal and proxy options.. individual accounts
would fall back on the group's settings for personal if they are set
(as an intermediary between the account and the global Personal
prefs) and would show "use group proxy settings" in the proxy menu if
within a group.
Thoughts? Being able to do connection profiles for various reasons
(work vs. home for example) is a fairly old and common request.
Viksit, do you think this would solve your situation as well or better?

I think that preferences-setting AppleScript support is independent
of a solution to the problem if one is needed but would still be Good
to have. Someone who actually cares about AppleScript needs to take
'ownership' of it if it's going to develop... I did almost all of our
current support in response to repeated requests for scripting
support, and I believe Peter did some significant work cleaning it
up... I can't speak for him, but I honestly don't personally care
about scripting of Adium at all. That's not to say that it's not an
important or useful thing to have -- just that it's very difficult to
get motivated to take on a project and then maintain it across
developments if you have no desire to use it.
