We're aware, yes. This is the primary reason why we have been saying  
we'd like to use Quicktime. However, if I understand the Gstreamer  
architecture correctly, it would be possible for them to leverage some  
of this. If they can get this working, more power to them.

It seems to me that at this point, too much is still up in the air,  
especially wrt. Gstreamer on OS X. Someone investigating the current  
state of things would be enormously helpful.
