Hello,
[Disclaimer: English is not my first language, and it is my first
contribution to this list, hello all]

Wengo is a VoIP provider, it supports the development of an open source VoIP
(and video conferencing, SMS and chat) softphone through which it offers PC
to PSTN phone calls. This software uses the open SIP protocol and is
developed under the WengoPhone name by the OpenWengo project.  (from

Adium has a very large user base, much larger than wengo, maybe they could
sponsor you to make a VoIP/Video Plugin for Adium integrated in standard,
and like Skype you could buy credit to make  PC to PSTN phone calls.

But they already have a Mac Os version of this software, it use libpurple,
so maybe they wouldn't be happy  to have a self competitor.
