Then there's SomethingAwful's method of raising money, which is  
namely allowing people to pay to screw each other over. I think it's  
something like $5 to change your avatar and $10 to change someone  
else's, so they make $15 off of a mean-spirited prank.

Not that I recommend this, but it's an interesting approach :-)
