BTW, we in the Jabber community have defined a Jingle transport that
uses the ICE methodology:
http://www.xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0176.html
NAT traversal is a knotty problem, but ICE should go a long way toward
solving it. Granted, we'd need some good ICE libraries. However, I think
those will be forthcoming soon after ICE is finalized (it's currently in
Working Group Last Call at the IETF).
