It does support some, but it fails on my network :(
I'm using a Gentoo-based router I set up myself. I tried setting up a  
UPnP service, but that didn't help.

I haven't read it myself, but I'm sure it can help you understanding  
the complexity of the issue. Most servers don't proxy voice/video- 
connections due to costs involved.
