"Based on" can be a rather loose term. :)

Not as far as I know. Gizmo uses XMPP for its IM and presence so it is 
compatible with the entire Jabber network for that, but it uses SIP for 
voice. However it interoperates with Google Talk for voice I think.

Gizmo VV negotiation via the Jabber channel may be in the works, not 
sure. I'll poke my Gizmo friends about that. :)

Quite possible. VV is a mess with all those codecs etc. Yikes.
