Actually, 5223 was pretty much deprecated in 2004, but many deployed
servers still offer it, so personally I see no immediate reason to
stop supporting it in Adium.

Removing SSLv2 is indeed a good idea, but I disagree about SSLv3 and I
updated the Internet-Draft and the manifesto to reflect that fact.
