George,

About 1/3 of our users are running Adium in a language other than English, so I think we should try to avoid English words in the icons.

I like the new menu bar icon (sans words, shifted and resized appropriately).

Without the words, the new dock icon doesn't look much different from Adiumy himself; the current one, with Adiumy in action and the old-school dock triangle, communicates the message, though modernizing it would be a great improvement.

Contact list is a cool concept, with the blueprint.  Font names are universal, too, so words there are okay - though is that going to scale to the smaller (and more commonly seen) icon size well?

For theme, a few more basic thematic elements, and expanding the contact list as shown to fill more of the icon, and I think it's good to go. 

Emoticons speaks for itself - again, only question I have is appearance at the smaller sizes. Haven't tried resizing it myself though.

I see no problem with using the stock plugin image - we're already doing so, in fact:

I'm not sure what the ellipsis is supposed to indicate on our current one; the plus sign at least implies adding features to me ;)
