Event lists by account/protocol

I have a usage pattern I'd like to report, and a problem with it. 

I use the xmpp facebook chat interface, and at any given moment I have a ton of friends online, However, I only really care about the ones on AIM, and I keep the other around just in case I feel like talking to them. Now, I like to have a sound play when people log on and off, and the sheer volume of logons/logoffs that the facebook chat is producing is too much. 

I'd like to see/implement something where we can configure events based on individual accounts, i.e. facebook has a custom set, and AIM has a custom set. 

Ideas? Is this just me being anal?
