Running two versions at the same time is generally not practical; most  
services don't even allow it. Some of us usually run current  
development sources; others usually run releases or betas.

Once you're working on something, then, of course, you will want to  
run your build to test it.

That's usually not necessary, but it is sometimes handy, so we do have  
that: Hold down Option when launching Adium.
