[Adium-devl] mbpurple plugin for Adium

All -
Just a few comments on the mbpurple plugin. This plugin has been available
for libpurple (primarily Pidgin) clients for about 9 months now. As you
guys suspect, we were not aware that Twitter support would be native in
Adium 1.4, and since I was sick of running Pidgin on my Mac, I decided to
just build a wrapper around the purple plugin.
What that means is that I have limited ability to modify specific
functionality in the plugin without getting the ok from the other guys. So
things like changing the behavior of creating a group called Twitter with a
buddy named twitter is unlikely to happen (its common code/config & the
Pidgin folks like the way it works). Plus, notice when you post to Twitter
the client is named mbpurple, rather than AdiumTwitter or some other catchy
name.
I can rename the plugin itself to make it clear this is an alternative
implementation to the 1.4 version...which we were thinking about doing since
Identica and Laconica are also supported by this plugin (and are on the list
of things to enable in the Adium port).
If you would like me to make that change let me know.

I think I'm leaning towards approving it as well. I do however think
that there need to be disclaimers on the page that it isn't the
official version and that it could conflict with 1.4 once it's
released, etc. My main reasoning for approval is that it gives people
something to use right now while they wait for our implementation.
