Sometimes? :P

Basically I wanted to prove to the trac team that this is what they
needed to focus on for the next version, or that we needed to see a
better searching capable plugin. It served the purpose, I got them to
discuss it for a few days on irc based on the fact that there was just
a truckload of tickets in there.

The extra view that you get with a milestone that you don't with
anything else in trac is this: http://trac.adiumx.com/milestone/Adium%201.3.3
, and I just happen to like that view, which is why I went with a
milestone. I'm pretty sure that Zac thought it was stupid, but eh. I
think that if people focused on the component that had the most dupes,
that you'd also theoretically see a reduction in dupes :)

Anyhow, I think it did prove that *someone* needs to focus on
searching in trac, or the trend is just going to continue. What I
wanted was a plugin to show something similar to a tag cloud, but with
multiple layers. So you'd start out with a main tag cloud page, you'd
see things like Contact List and MSN in big letters. Say you click on
MSN, you'd then see Connection Problem or Offline Messages, things of
that nature. Click one of those, and you get a table of tickets and a
"start search over" button at the top and bottom. Something like that
I think would help those people who just want to click around for some
time to search. The trac team seemed open to a plugin of this nature,
but I don't know that they either implemented it or thought about it
for longer than the couple of days I pinged them on it.

I'm positive that searching could be improved in other ways. The
results for instance could be reformatted to not be as geeky looking.

Oh, and the zzz was to put it at the bottom of any list alphabetically.

Anyhow, I have to run off to work. I don't really monitor this list
much anymore, so if someone needs me to respond, please ping me via im
or send a direct email. :)

Chris
