[Adium-devl] libpurple: personal message != status message

Of note, I came from only using MSN and Gtalk prior to Adium years
ago, and I did originally have a hard time getting used to the status-
tied-to-status-message way of thinking. I have grown to like being
able to quickly switch to preset statuses, but I still get the urge to
*only* update my status message/personal message quickly - without
having to open another window and reselect my status. (Yes I know I
can do CMD-Shift-Y, but then you have to select your status again -
not nearly as simple nor as intuitive).
Thus my suggestions in http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/8333
"
Move the status dropdown menu from the 'status' text below the display
name to the status icon. In such a way, you would need to click on the
status icon to change your status (in exactly the same way it works
now - you just click on the status icon beside the name rather than on
the status text below the name).
Make the status text editable in the contact list toolbar - exactly
like the display name
"
The suggestion does not interfere with the way things currently are,
while at the same time allowing for users to easily edit only their
status message/personal message. The only thing that does change
slightly is where you click to change your status, and IMO clicking on
the status icon (which represents your status) to change your status,
makes considerably more sense than clicking on the status message/
personal message which may or may not actually reflect your status.
(For example, pretty much everyone on my list - including AIM users -
use it for either a status message or a 'personal' non-status-related
message at different times; their message thusly doesn't always
represent their status).
