Hello,
Just a quick note announcing the new msn-pecan release, which features
custom emoticon sending support, thanks to Devid Antonio Filoni.
But want to take this chance to announce other 3 projects:
https://github.com/felipec/libmsn-pecan
https://github.com/felipec/purple-msn-pecan
https://github.com/felipec/telepathy-msn-pecan
This is important because Empathy has officially become part of GNOME.
Hopefully msn-pecan will soon provide decent support for msn there,
which means more users, which means more bug reports, which means less
bugs :)
Also, there's a branch in libmsn-pecan that allows wrapping libmsn-2
into msn-pecan's API, so it can be used by the telepathy and libpurple
plug-ins. libmsn-2 is the new library used by Kopete, it's written in
C++, libmsn-pecan will try to wrap it (optionally).
There's code that runs for all of this, but it's still not functional.
I suspect the crashes related to buddy icons are still there, but
there's an option to turn it off, so the users can choose stability
over functionality if they wish.
Now, I'm interested in how well the official libpurple msn plug-in is doing.
From:
http://developer.pidgin.im/query?status=invalid&status=new&status=pending&group=component&component=MSN&order=priority
and
http://trac.adiumx.com/query?status=new&status=assigned&status=reopened&component=MSN&order=priority
I can see a lot of crashes, but more importantly, people not being
able to connect at all. That was exactly my prediction.
Anyway, I'm not suggesting to move back to msn-pecan, at least until
0.1.0, but I'm interested in your opinion.
Cheers.
