Yeah, it's broken for me under Leopard.

Oops! Sorry. I haven't tried Colin's implementation yet so I can't  
comment.

I wasn't thinking anything too gaudy, but Apple's pushing for more  
animations in applications, so I don't think it'll be too long before  
users expect them.

Just a constricting circle around the point that goes away. You could  
also do something like the latest Xcode does when you close a brace.  
That said, I won't push the point further.
