I concur - the largest thing we get from GSoC is new long-term  
contributors, and I'd like to see that trend continue, especially as  
the project gets older and the goals of what we're doing change. If  
someone cares enough to come up with their own idea and work with us  
to make sure the scope is sane, I think they're a lot more likely to  
hang around after the end of GSoC.
