I understood that correctly; what I meant was that there might be a
problem in the "Adium -> Apple's server" part. I can imagine that
Apple allows only a couple of trusted servers to initiate the
connection to their push servers, i.e. not from every user's home
computer. But as I said, nothing is sure until Apple releases more
details.
