[Adium-devl] Change buddy icon

Hi,

[If you are not expecting questions on plugin development on this list 
please forgive and educate me]

I am fooling around with writing a Adium plugin and want my code to 
change the buddy icon once in a while.

So far i only found the way through the preference controller.
Is there a better way?
My problem with the preference controller way is that my buddy icon 
change should be only temporary so i would prefer not to touch the 
preferences.

Another thing i could not quite grasp:
If i want to have some GUI elements -- say for configuration -- i 
apparently can create a .nib file. But i did not quite understand how to 
inject the .nib file then in the Adium dialog(s). Any docs on this subject?

Even worse: Is it possible to (ex-)change an existing GUI part (e.g. add 
additional elements to it) or would i then have to alter the main Adium 
sources?

BTW: is there any other (more thorough -- of course i found MapOfAdium 
and other high level stuff on the wiki) development docs besides the 
source code?
