You seem to be the only one who wants to go with random email  
addresses, everyone else (out of those who have commented) seems to  
be alright with having some kind of naming standard. I don't see the  
problem with the ~1-5 seconds worth of typing you'll have to do if it  
helps the team as a whole, honestly. Especially since 2 key team  
members have already said that they want this for a specific reason,  
and you only dislike it because it'll cause you a very minor bit of  
work due to the way your system is setup.

Are there other solutions to this? Can hg for instance save a  
username per hostname in the global config file? Is this even a  
problem? To be honest it's just a username, one way we go it has some  
kind of meaning in certain situations, the other way has no meaning  
at all, and it's just a crapshoot of randomness. I prefer some sense  
of order here.

I don't see the value in what you are proposing Colin, so maybe you  
could put it into another way that benefits the team more than what  
Peter and Evan are wanting, then we'd better understand why you are  
wanting it the way you are wanting it beyond "I don't want to type a  
few extra characters every now and then". :)
