Original releases were Open Source by license (inherited from
firetalk), but not in spirit as there was no public repo and it was a
one-man effort. In the later 1.x releases Evan hoped in (and a few
others) and we decided to make it more of a community thing. This
brought about Adium 2.0/X with its multi-protocol support and
horrifically over-architected plugin-based design (Hurray oo
inexperience), which slowly grew into the awesome beast it is today
(Largely thanks to the community's support). All of it mocking my
inability to draw a messenger bird :)
Fun fact for ya: The original Adium duck sounds (QUACK!) are actually
me Mooing like a cow (I've always liked cows) played in reverse and
shifted in pitch.
