Colin raises a good point: There should be a ticket for this, and on  
every known bug. If you know about a bug, whether you intend to fix  
it or not, please make sure there is a ticket for it.

Further, I suggest that if you begin working on fixing a ticket, you  
should:

1. Accept the ticket using the Trac form. This tells everybody that  
somebody (you) is working on it.
2. Adopt the ticket as your diary. As you discover facts about the  
nature of the bug, explain those facts in comments on the ticket.
3. Once you figure out what's needed to fix the bug, explain the fix  
in the commit message of your commit of the fix, and include “Fixes  
#ticketnumber” in it. Trac will see this and post the commit message  
as a comment on the ticket, and it will even close the ticket for  
you. (This is *unbelievably* fun.)
