[Adium-devl] Icon requests

I don't know, I think rebranding could be useful for two reasons.

One, we could snatch up www.adiumav.com which I think is a lot nicer  
than a .org, although we may be moving into organizational territory,  
from a product marketing standpoint something easier to remember and  
synonymous with our product's name is a big plus.

Secondly it highlights a highly requested feature, and takes the  
burden off of the user base to check back on AV capabilities; they  
immediately know that we've made headway into the AV space, and mean  
serious business. It's in the name after all...

I think the two, combined with a bigger 'marketing' push to generate  
some massive hype about finally nailing down our most requested  
feature will lead to a huge increase in user-base, more donations,  
more eyes, more publicity, more developers. All of these are good  
things.

To follow up on what Colin just wrote, a larger blog presence would  
also be really helpful here, regardless of our naming choice. The aim  
is to get the word out. I haven't been blogging because all the work  
I'm doing is NDA'd, or so I keep telling myself, but we really should  
be more prolific in our public interactions.

Keep in mind, this all comes with a price. If we start to make a push  
towards a heavier marketing presence, we're going [have] to become a  
target from people like Trillian and such, attempting to win over our  
userbase. It's been a while since any stiff competition has contended  
for that and I think between iChat 4.0 and Trillian we may want to  
start riding the marketing wave a little bit harder. Despite what some  
of us might think our intended audience is, no user is a bad user.

Just some thoughts though, we are working at an aggressive pace in AV- 
land, and so I think we need to be thinking about these things sooner  
rather than later.
