Opinion from a non Adium developer who's been too busy lately to
keep a closer eye on Adium things (sorry Chris! ;-), but nevertheless
one who's seen and tested every single releases in the 1.0x
timeframe, even alphas and betas, I think this is a good idea.... but
only in theory. The 1.0.4 release has proved pretty stable lately and
it's been stated that it's meant to be the last one with Panther
support (or at least that's what I understood). Changing in any way
such a core part of Adium as libpurple for 10.3 users inevitably
means a new Q&A cycle that could easily extend beyond "a simple
release", from experience seen on this very list.
It is my opinion that 10.3 support is left in peace as it currently
is with a pretty solid 1.0.4 Adium release, and not risk having to do
1.0.6 'cause something unexpected might break in 1.0.5 (*cough*
anyone remember 1.0.3? *cough*), given the relative weight of
libpurple within Adium.
Just my opinion, in any case! Regards,...
