We use libpurple, which is part of the Pidgin project.

Objective-C. Libpurple is written in C.
We have a framework build of libpurple in Plugins/Purple Service.
This build is created from our libpurple (FKA libgaim) repository,
which is here:
svn://svn.adiumx.com/libgaim/
I'm not sure exactly what we do for synchronizing that repo with the
official Pidgin repo, so I'm going to switch this thread over to our
development list, where you should be able to get a more exact answer.
