That hash revisions system is also a "problem" with git, but as I  
understand it there's no easy/good way to implement a decentralized  
version control system with revision numbers like SVN.
Git does have a "gitweb" thingy that's (IIRC) a CGI that looks into  
the repository at runtime. In my experience it was fast enough.
