This sort of thing is always useful and I am glad you documented your  
experience.
Sometimes our assumptions as seasoned users, or developers, leave us  
isolated from
the real user experience. One example is how I think people use  
computers, only
to find myself in an internet cafe in some other country. For example  
in Asia
I am always surprised by how much UI candy they seem to love,  
especially the
girls. Its all about multicoloured text and visually loud emoticons.

I really think that we almost need to study more users, with  
different backgrounds,
and see how they behave. Its always interesting studying user  
psychology and
behaviour, since there is always something that will surprise you.
