Note that this issue (everything where you had to say a word is an  
issue) is done better in trunk, there's a "Add Account" menu item  
there (I put it there as requested by Chris). Should be easier to  
find (as long as the user knows what a menu is).

What about having an automatic option as default, where the offline  
buddies are shown as long as the list doesn't have to scroll?

Uncheck
Finder -> Preferences -> General -> Open new windows in column view :)
