I'm all for Gstreamer if someone else is going to be maintaining it. I  
think the main objection has been that Adium would be one of the first  
users of Gstreamer on OS X. We really don't want to be paving a road  
like that as we go along. We're a fairly tiny project in terms of  
manpower, latching on to larger projects is how we've gotten where we  
are so far, and probably where we're going to go in the future.
