At first, I thought he was talking about encryption. (Turns out he
wasn't.) Now, encrypted logging has been requested before and AFAIK
our plan on that hasn't changed: we're still not going to do it. But
we could enhance our support for using an encrypted disk image.

Here are some ideas I've had:

1. Proper alias support.

On launch, Adium should test the path to the logs folder to see if
it's an alias. If it is, it would dereference that alias and set the
logs folder path to the resulting path. Dereferencing an alias causes
any associated disk image or network volume to be mounted.

2. Add first-class handling of disk images to Adium's Advanced prefs.

You could set the Logs folder to either a folder (e.g. on an external
drive) or a disk image file (.dmg or .sparseimage). If you point it
to a disk image, it would mount the disk image on launch, hold it
open for as long as it's running*, and unmount it on quit, and logs
would be saved to and retrieved from the disk image.

Any thoughts? Any other ideas?

* For that matter, we should probably do that anyway, especially if
we do #1. Simply creating a file and leaving it open would do the trick.
